March 21, 2009 Lacrosse

Today I was the scoreboard operator at the Lacrosse game. Nothing new here, the only thing that I did to help out was to keep an eye on the game and call out stats. I've actually got to the point where I can call out the game all day long. The only problem with Lacrosse is that its hard to see the numbers of the players from the pressbox. Other than that Lacrosse is actually very easy to game to operate.

March 18, 2009 Men's Baseball

Today was once again Men's Baseball. Today we did thinks a little different. We had job rotation from scoreboard operator and the person entering the stats. We also had one person just keep an eye on the game. So I did the scoreboard and input the stats. I only did three innings but it took me awhile to get the hang of it but I did. Working the computer reminded me a lot of the soccer games but in a different program. If giving the chance to actually do the computer the entire game I probably could do it.

March 12, 2009 Baseball/Lacrosse/Baseball

Today was crazy day. The Lacrosse game was scheduled for five o’clock that day and we had a double header at baseball starting at three. I offered to help start baseball until Lacrosse started. I was once again keeping an eye of game as an extra set of eyes. I left there to work the Lacrosse game. My duties there were to keep score and to call out stats like I did in Soccer. I had to add one point to the scoring team and stop the clock on scored goals and when a card was issued. With stats I had to call out things like “ground control”, “turn over”, “ground ball” and other Lacrosse terminology. This was the first time I actually done this. I was learning the terms from the last Lacrosse game so I could help out call stats. I did a lot better than I thought I would do. After Lacrosse was finished I loaded up what equipment I had to and offered to help finish the second baseball game. I was once again the extra set of eyes and when the game ended I put up the equipment for the scoreboard and gave the coaches of each team the box scores.

March 11, 2009 Lacrosse Into Baseball

Today I was scoring the Lacrosse game. The game was moved to March 12, 2009 due to the lack of referees. After we packed up the equipment I was giving the option to help out at baseball as an extra eye on stats. I accepted and went down to help run baseball. I was mainly helping out the scoreboard operator and I was giving the duty of “DJ”, which was basically fading in and out the music. I was also watching for things that happened so if the person doing stats missed something I was able to tell that person what happened.

Hours – 3.5

March 10, 2009 Men’s Baseball

Today was the Men’s Baseball game. I was the scoreboard operator once again. My duties were the same as last time. I had to put up the strikes, balls, runs, hits, batters up, and errors. Also I was in charge of fading in and out the music. I also was in charge of delivering the box scores and putting up the equipment for the scoreboard.

March 3-4, 2009 Lacrosse

Today was Lacrosse again. I was once again doing the scoreboard except this time I was learning to do the calls for the stats. It’s a lot more than soccer. It may take me awhile to actually get that down but if I was able to do soccer than I think Lacrosse will be easy to. I just have to get used to it. From what I attempted today it was ok.

February 28, 2008 Lacrosse

Today was the very time I’ve actually seen a lacrosse game. My duties were to work the scoreboard. Every time a team scored I had to stop the clock and give the scoring team a point. I only had to stop the clock when the referees told me to. It took me awhile to get used to scoring the game but I got used to it.

Wednesday February 25, 2009 Men’s Baseball

Today was baseball. I was the scoreboard operator again. I’m really getting the hang of it. It’s not hard at all to learn. So just to get me a little extra job I started to play to music between innings and fade out the music when they are about to start. Also every time the game is over I gave both teams the box scores and was on my way home. Next game is Lacrosse; I have idea what Lacrosse is about or how to score the game. I will be the scoreboard operator for that game as well.

Saturday and Sunday February 21 – 22 Baseball

On these days I learned to work the scoreboard at the baseball field. The scoring system is different from basketball. I was unsure at first if I could actually handle it but I caught on fast. Since I played as a kid, I didn’t have to learn any new rules that I didn’t already know. All I had to do was put in the “Balls”, “Strikes”, “Outs”, “Errors”, “Runs” and “Hits”. After each inning I updated to score by how many runs at the end of the inning. My only complaint is how long it takes for baseball to end. It may be boring but this is a great opportunity for me.

February 16, 2009 Women’s/Men’s Basketball

Today was the last game of both the women’s and men’s basketball teams. The first game I was the scoreboard operator and the second game I was the shot clock operator. I was nice to get a little break from the scoreboard but I felt more comfortable there than I did at the shot clock.

February 14, 2009 Women's Basketball

Today was an easy day. All I had to do was work the women’s basketball game. It was for breast cancer awareness. All the event staff had to a pink shirt to help support. I had a little extra duty today because of the event. At half time I had to turn off the lights due to a video. A miscue happened but it in the end the event went well.

February 10, 2009 Men's/Women's Basketball

Today was basketball again and I was the scoreboard operator again. Nothing new just accomplished my duties, gained a little bit more experience and called it a day.

February 7, 2009 Men's/Women's Basketball

Today was the Men’s/Women’s Basketball games. I was once again the scoreboard operator. These are going to be one of the last few games. I would have to work basketball because the season is coming to an end. Next for me is baseball. I remember a little bit how the game is played but I don’t know what I will be doing when I actually work the event.

Basketball Jan 31 and Feb 1 2009

I had to work a total of four games this past weekend. Both men and women's basketball. I was the scoreboard operator for all the games. My duties were the same, as stated earlier I have found my niche in working the basketball games. Sometimes I get a little break from the scoreboard by working the shot clock but I'm not complaining. Baseball will be starting up soon so I will be working both basketball games and baseball/softball games.

Women’s/Men’s Basketball

These two games were on the same day as the JV game. My duties were the same as the JV game, scoreboard operator. Only this time I had to set the scoreboard to read the player’s fouls and team fouls. I was little rusty at first but then after a couple of fouls I got the hang of it again. Next game is on January 31, 2009.

January 24, 2009 Men’s JV Basketball

Today I worked the Men’s BV Basketball game. My duties were the scoreboard operator. Add points to the scoring team, add team fouls when necessary, and also the most important part of all, the time. I didn’t mess up on the time at all but we had a little problem with the score but it was fixed. The next game is the Women’s Basketball game followed by the Men’s Varsity Basketball game.

January 19, 2009 Men's JV Basketball

Today I was working the JV Men’s Basketball game. I got to take it a little easier today because my supervisor had to train someone on how to work the scoreboard and shot clock. Whenever she went to help someone else I stood by making sure the new person didn’t make a mistake. I was the scoreboard operator after the first half. Even though it was a JV game I treated as if it was a varsity game. No mistakes allowed.

January 15, 2009 Women’s Basketball

Today I was the shot clock operator for this game. It’s nice to take a little break from the scoreboard. I don’t mind working either one. I feel comfortable at each one. My duties as the shot clock operator were to reset the clock when the ball hit the rim or changed possession. That’s it, nothing else as the shot clock operator. Next game is on Monday 19, 2009.

January 13, 2009 Men’s and Women’s Basketball

Today I was the scoreboard operator for both games. This time around I was on top of everything. I remember where everything was so I didn’t have to go and find it. Duties were the same as Monday. I did get a little tired from doing this but I pushed it out and got through it. Next game is on Thursday 15, 2009.

January 11, 2009 Men’s Basketball

After about a month off from working the basketball games my work on the scoreboard was off. I was the scoreboard operator for the evening. I had to keep the time right and add points to the teams and fouls. I was a little rusty at first. I had to relearn where the buttons were and how the game was operator. It didn’t take long for me to get the hang of it again. The next game is on Wednesday January 13, 2009. With both Women’s and Men’s Basketball.
