December 2, 2008 Men's Basketball JV

I worked both the shot clock and the scoreboard during this game. No problems at all again. If I was to mess up I would be at the JV game where I am still kinda training. Don't really know if my supervisor is going to have do stats with her but I am not complaining about my current duties

Monday December 1, 2008 Men's Basketball

I had to work the shot clock during this game. Once again I was on top of things. Reset the clock when I had to and was told by the referees that I was doing an awesome job working the shot clock.

Next day Women's Basketball

This was day two of the Women’s Basketball tournament. I had to work the scoreboard again. I am really getting the hang of it. I don’t have to think about what to do. Once something happened I was all over it. It’s getting to the point where no one has to say one word to me. Except for the referees who tell I am doing an awesome job with the clock.

Women's Basketball

Later that night I had to work two women's basketball games. There was a tournament being held at Methodist. I was once again working the scoreboard. During the past few games I made little minor mistakes but I’m glad to say that I did not once mess up the clock or the fouls. Both games went by fast which really amazed me. Since I was busy worrying about the clock and not messing up, that really helped me out.

Men's Basketball

I had to work the scoreboard again for this game. This game I learned how to put the player’s number and how many fouls on the scoreboard. It was a little difficult at first but I got the hang of it after awhile. Since most of the other students went home for Thanksgiving break I had to work the clock the entire game. Which gave me more practice at the scoreboard.

Football

This was very new to me. I never worked a football game before. I was in charged of the scoreboard. All I had was to set the downs and the score. Someone else was in charge of the time. I was the scorekeeper. Although this was the last game I learned a lot about how football is run. This was a great experience for me. Next game I'll be working is basketball.

Final two Soccer games

These were my last two soccer games I had to work with. I announced the games of the people who scored and worked the scoreboard and called out stats. This was a really a great experience for me. This is something I would never forget.

Tuesday October 21, 2008 Volleyball

On this Tuesday night was Volleyball. Which is one fast paced sport. One must be fully aware of what's going on. I helped announce one set out of four. All the other times I was keeping my eye out for assists. Nothing new from my past times working Volleyball. My next game is on Saturday 25, 2008 working the soccer game.

Hours: 2.5

Soccer October 18 and 19

October 18 and 19 were once again soccer games. Saturday my duties were to work the clock announce goals and help call out plays. My supervisor was the football game so there was only two people working this game. It's getting to the point where I can just look at what happens and call it out. I don't ahve to think twice about it.

On Sunday 19, 2008, it was soccer again. This day I was working the computer, inputting the data. Also helping calling out plays. Nothing new, it may a boring to watch but one second not looking at the game and something important might be missed. I find it helpful if I stand up to keep me focused. Next game is Volleyball on Tuesday 21, 2008.

Today was Men's Soccer. My duties were to run the clock, annouce goals, and help call out the stats. It was nothing new. There was only two people working the soccer game, including me. My supervisor was at the football game. As stated last week, I believe I have learned every aspect of the game. My next adventure is on Saturday 18, 2008. I'll once work the soccer game.

Saturday October 4, 2008 Women's/Men's Soccer

Today was just two games of soccer. My duties were to input the data from both games. Nothing new, I’m just really getting the hang of the computer. Not to mention that I’m able to call certain foul and shots without someone telling me. This was the case from both games. I think my supervisor will keep me on the computer for the remainder of the soccer games. My next game is this Saturday doing once again soccer. That’s the only game that is going on besides football but my supervisor assigned me to soccer. So until my next game, see you.

September 30, Volleyball

Last night was volleyball night. My duites were to call out what was happening in the game. For instance: assits, kills, and diggs. Its a very fast paced game so one must keep an eye out for everything. There is no room for error. I don't really know if I am going to do the other duties but only time will tell.

Time: 6:30-9:00

September 28 Women's Soccer

Today was Women's Soccer once again but this time we had four people working the event, including my supervisor. When I arrived she had assigned jobs to the others so my duties were to keep an eye on substitutes, fouls, shot, and assits. I also helped with audio again. Yesterday was a big help because I was confident in what I was calling out to the person doing stats. So the next soccer game I worked I won't be nervous working it anymore.

Time: 1:30-4:00

Saturday September 27 Women's Soccer

This day was a good and nervous experience. Methodist had three home games and my supervisor Kirbie Britt could only be at two of them. She wasn't at the Women's Soccer game which is the game I worked. There was only two people working the game so we had to keep our eyes focused for anything. My duties were to be the score/time keeper, handle audio and to annouce goals and assits. I was only nervous when I had to annouce but the more I did it I became more calm and clear. I believed I have learned how to work every part of game day operations with soccer. I guess the only thing left to do with soccer is to become less dependant of others when working the game.

Women's Soccer/Men's Soccer

Saturday 20, 2008

Today I worked the men's and women's soccer. The first game was the men's soccer game against Southeastern. My duties were to be the score/time keeper. Stop the clock when told to and to issue the scoring team a point. It was just like when I first started working soccer games except this time it isn't my first time.

With the women's soccer game against Lynchburg, my duties were to input all the data into the computer. Nothing new was learned just reviewed. I feel just a few more times and I will be able to see a foul and input the data before anybody can tell me.

Next game for me is on Saturday September 27, 2008. Women's Soccer against Ferrum

September 17, 2008 Men's Soccer and Volleyball

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 what a day. My job at the soccer site was PA and putting in the data. With PA I was announcing the starting players and explaining all about good sportsmanship. This was the first time I ever did anything like this. Even though nobody could still I was nervously shaking. I know with more practice I will be able to do it with ease. The data I was inputting was all the same as last time. Inputting fouls, shots, offsides, and if a card was issued. I believe my supervisor wants me to be able to do this without any help. With more time in doing this I will be able to.
Volleyball: I had no clue what to expect with volleyball. It really is a fast paced sport. My duties were to announce diggs, assists, attacks, and kills. My supervisor input all the data as I called out the game. At first I was witnessing how to run volleyball. After a few times I gave it a shot. There is no room for error because everything happens so fast. What else lies for me in volleyball; I don't know. I will find out next game. My next game will be soccer this coming up Saturday.

Men's Soccer - 3:30 - 6:00
Volley Ball - 6:30 - 8:45

Womens Soccer

On Saturday September 13, 2008 I was working the Women's soccer game. My duties were to input the data from the game. For instance, if a foul was commited I had to put it into the computer. Same went for shots, goals, offsides, substitutes , and if cards were issued. This was very new to me. Next time I will be working soccer again but after soccer I'm gonna work a Volleyball game too. We will find out Wednesday what will happen.

September 10, 2008 Men's Soccer

Today was my first on with my internship with Kirbie Britt. I was so nervous that I was walking very slowly toward the job site. When I arrived I walked into the small office behind the soccer field and I was greeted by Kirbie and other employees. I sat down in a seat and was handed a time/score keeper papers. I was to work the time and score board. I read over the papers several times and was hoping I didn't screw up on anything. I had to set the time for 45 minutes of game play. If a goal was scored I had to stop the clock and award a point to the team that scored. All was done on a electronic board in front of me. Push a button to stop or resume time and pushed another to add a point. It was an easy duty but nerve recking because I was so new to this field. I plan to work another soccer game this coming up Saturday. I do not know if my job duties will be different or the same. I'll find out on Saturday.
